Meet Valeria Cristofoli, Project Manager at LCHL

With a background in law, international relations and project management, Valeria will play a key role in supporting researchers by coordinating projects, reporting to funders and facilitating collaboration.

Get to know Valeria 

Valeria completed a bachelor's degree in International Diplomatic Sciences and International Relations at the University of Trieste, Italy, followed by a master's degree in International Relations and Conflict Resolution. During her studies, she developed a strong interest in international cooperation and public policy. 

After her studies, Valeria built an international career spanning academia, NGOs and research organisations. As a Programme Coordinator in urban development in Cambodia, she worked closely with local authorities and community groups to support collaborative initiatives. Later, Valeria contributed to several projects at the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development, including the INDIGO project, which focused on developing affordable influenza vaccines, and the END VOC project, focusing on EU-India relations and access to vaccines. At AIGHD, Valeria worked together with LCHL researchers Dr. Katrina Perehudoff and Prof. Anniek de Ruijter.

In addition to LCHL, Valeria currently also works at SEVEN, which is the UvA's interdisciplinary climate institute. At SEVEN, Valeria manages interdisciplinary initiatives and coordinates collaboration among diverse partners. 

Valeria's inspiration 

Throughout her career, Valeria has been driven by the opportunity to contribute to projects that make a meaningful difference. She finds it especially rewarding to support researchers whose work addresses pressing societal challenges. Whether the focus is public health, sustainability, or social innovation, she is inspired by working with people who are committed to creating positive change through research.

Valeria's work at LCHL 

As Project Manager at Law Centre for Health and Life, Valeria supports the Centre's research projects from start to finish. She coordinates collaborations, monitors project progress and deadlines, maintains communication with funding organisations and helps ensure that administrative and reporting requirements are met. 

By coordinating stakeholders, supporting researchers and keeping projects on track, Valeria helps create the conditions that allow LCHL's researchers to focus on advancing knowledge and addressing important health and societal challenges.
